Why it matters

The 21st Century Museum of Contemporary Art, Kanazawa combines a free city-facing public zone with exhibition areas whose tickets, programs and access change. Leandro Erlich's The Swimming Pool requires an applicable exhibition ticket, and its underground room also requires a separate same-day waiting reservation. The museum has announced a full renovation closure from 6 May 2027 through March 2028; the exact reopening date and closure-period operations remain unannounced as of 2026-07-19.
